Summer is finally here! It’s time to bring on the watermelon, green grass under our feet and the breezy ocean. Join me to create summer sensory bottles to explore your favorite summer things in the classroom! Students will love shaking, wiggling, and observing these summer sensory bottles! Place them in the science center or the safe place for students to experience these gorgeous additions to your classroom!
Summer Sensory Bottles

Watermelon Sensory Bottle
- empty bottle
- fill with pink colored rice and black beans
- to color rice: place dry rice in a baggie with a few drops of liquid watercolor, shake until coated, and lay flat on foil to dry
- hot glue or superglue the lid closed
- cover the top with green tape
Summer Sensory Bottle
This design reminds me of the green grass and the treasures it has in it!
- empty bottle
- add dry peas to represent the grass
- small rocks (these are from the Dollar Tree)
- snail and frog mini erasers (if you don’t have mini erasers just add small plastic critters or animals)
- hot glue or superglue the lid closed
- cover the top with tape
Ocean Sensory Bottle
- empty bottle
- place sand at the bottom
- add seashells and a few ocean animal figures
- fill to the top with blue water leaving about 1/2 inch space at the top so there is room to shake
- to make blue water simply place a few drops of liquid watercolor or blue food coloring
- hot glue or superglue the lid closed
- cover the top with tape
